Reverse Transfer.

Product · August 2026

Reverse transfer isn't optional for most institutions — in many states, it's a requirement. Echo File is our answer to why it still takes so long.

A requirement, not a nice-to-have

Reverse transfer shows up on almost every enrollment officer's desk, and in a growing number of states it's not optional — it's mandated. Students who transfer out before finishing an associate degree are still entitled to have that degree awarded retroactively once their earned credit qualifies. Getting there means pulling transcripts, matching courses, and posting the result back to the SIS — for every student, every term.

How Echo File handles it

Echo File takes a flat file in whatever format your partner institution already produces. You upload the document, Echo File talks directly to your SIS, and the matched, validated data syncs straight in. No reformatting the file by hand, no re-keying what's already on the transcript.

We know how important this process is and how much time it takes. We reduce the time it takes for transcripts to be processed.

Built from actual conversations

We didn't start with the product — we started by talking to colleges. Almost every conversation started the same way: with how long this process takes. Echo File exists because that complaint kept coming up, from institution after institution, until it was clear the problem was worth solving properly.

We saw the need for institutions and the time it took. Almost every conversation started with how long this process is.
