Your data should move itself.

Perspective · September 2026

It's the line at the top of our homepage, and it gets read two different ways. One reading is accurate. The other is a support ticket waiting to happen. Here's what we actually mean.

The default we're pushing back on

At most institutions, data moving between systems still means a person moving it. Someone exports a transcript evaluation from one screen and retypes it into another. Someone reconciles a Slate record against Banner by eye. Someone holds the reverse transfer backlog in their head because the spreadsheet stopped being trustworthy months ago. None of that is a knock on the staff doing it — it's what happens when the systems themselves were never built to talk to each other.

That's the baseline “your data should move itself” is written against. Not a slow process made slightly faster — a process where a human retyping a field shouldn't be the mechanism at all.

What “moves itself” actually requires

Four things have to be true for data to move on its own and still be trustworthy. It has to be ingested in whatever shape the source system actually produces — an API, a flat file, an evaluation feed — before anything else happens. It has to be transformed against your institution's own business rules, with bad records stopping right there instead of propagating downstream. It has to be routed through mappings that are versioned, so an Ellucian update doesn't quietly break where a record ends up. And it has to be committed — checked for an existing match first, so nothing gets duplicated or silently overwritten.

Skip any one of those and you don't have automation — you have a faster way to create bad data.

Moving itself doesn't mean moving unsupervised. It means the supervision is built into the pipeline instead of sitting in someone's head.

Observable, not autonomous

The phrase people worry about is “moves itself” — as if the data disappears into a black box and you find out what happened after the fact, if at all. That's the opposite of how we built this. Every record that moves leaves a log you can actually read. When something breaks, you get the record, the rule it failed, and the reason — not a guess and a support ticket. If you want to see a sync happen right now instead of waiting on a schedule, you can trigger one and watch it.

“Moves itself” describes what your staff no longer has to do by hand. It doesn't describe a system nobody can see inside.

Built by people who lived inside the mess

Our cofounders spent their careers inside Banner and Colleague before building anything on top of them — two decades in one, fifteen years in the other. That's the reason this tagline isn't a slogan a marketing team came up with in isolation. We assumed your data is messy, your rules are local, and your offices are busy, because we were the ones sitting in those offices.

We built BeBravo360 assuming the data would be messy and the rules would be local — because that's exactly what we saw for years before we started building.
